UPDATE on Apache!

Warrant Officer Matt Uran is in the states again after the crash.

March 4th, Warrant Officer Matt Uran took 42 steps with the help of two staff assisting him. He also raised his right hand and moved his fingers as the his wife told him the nurse was leaving the room.

On March 5th, Matt took 107 steps with only a walker. "Thanks for all the prayers as this is a lot of help in Matt's recovery process", Fabienne Uran, Matt's mom

On March 22nd, "Great things happened for Matthew, he Matthew is almost free of external tubing. He only has a feeding tube in him now. Yeah!!! " "He was given a CAT scan and it was decided that he needed to keep the hard collar on for 4 more weeks. It is better to be safe than sorry. Last Thursday, March 17th, Matthew had a busy day. He started holding a spoon by himself. He can now feed* himself! Yeah! He also began to hold his toothbrush and started to brush* his own teeth too last Thursday. Another Yeah! Matthew's balance is getting better each day. He tried to stand* by himself, but needs someone close to him as he still needs to regain his sense of balance some more. He is shaking* his head for yes and no. All this takes coordination and it is coming along. Friday, he kept busy with Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, eating pudding, sucking on suckers and doing the exercises that speech therapist are having Dawn do with Matthew. Saturday, Matthew was moving* his fingers on left hand. This has been too sore or too difficult to do before then.

On March 23rd. Matthew and Dawn were be going to the Veteran's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He will be getting lots of PT, OT, and ST. If anyone wants the address for mail or where to go to see Matt please contact this office as we do not want to give out that information on the web page.

On May 2nd. Russ & Terri Warriner stopped on their way home to give a surprise visit to Matt at the Veteran's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. They got to meet Matts' wife Dawn and had a great visit. It was great to see Matt light up when Russ was asked when he was in Blue Max. Although Matt had spoke his first words that very week he said nothing while Russ and Terri were there.
